Mountain Huts and Toilets

Mountain Huts on Mt. Fuji

  • As a rule, mountain huts are in business when trails are open. However, some mountain huts will close at the end of August. Check in advance whether mountain huts are still open when you make an ascent.
  • Some mountain huts do not accept climbers who arrive at night.
  • All payments must be made by cash only. Credit cards etc. are not accepted at the mountain huts.

Mountain huts on the Yoshida Trail

  • Among the four trails, this trail has the largest number of mountain huts.
  • However, no mountain hut is available on the descending trail below the 8th station.

Mountain huts on the Subashiri Trail

  • There are nine mountain huts on the ascending trail and one on the descending trail below the 7th Station.

Mountain huts on the Gotemba Trail

  • Among the four trails, there are the smallest number of mountain huts on this trail.
  •  No mountain hut is located for a long distance up to the 7th station after the Oishi-Chaya, about 10minutes’ walk from the Gotemba Trail New 5th Station.

Mountain huts on the Fujinomiya Trail

  • There are mountain huts at every station from the 5th station to the 9.5th station.
  • Mountain huts are available on the ascent and/or on the descent.

Toilets on Mt. Fuji

  • You can use the toilets of the mountain huts as well as public toilets (only during the climbing season).
  • All toilets are ecological toilets that use oyster shells, sawdust, etc. for human waste treatment. Please follow the instructions when you use these toilets.
  • Climbers are expected to pay a small fee in order to utilize toilet facilities.  Monetary contributions support facility maintenance. Please have some coins ready.
