Private vehicles are restricted during the climbing season in order to reduce congestion and environmental impact caused by exhaust emissions. During this period, parking areas are set up around the starting points of the vehicle restricted sections, from which the shuttle buses run to the trailheads. Trains and buses are available for getting to the trailheads. Private vehicles are restricted on the three trails except the Gotemba Trail during the climbing season. If you plan to go by car, you need to take the shuttle bus from the parking area at the foot.

It takes approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes to travel from Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko Station.
Take the Limited Express "Kaiji" to Otsuki Station, then transfer to the Fujikyu Railway bound for Kawaguchiko Station.
From Kawaguchiko Station, please take a local bus to the 5th Station of the Fuji Subaru Line.
Alternatively, you can take the "FUJI EXCURSION Limited Express" train directly from Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko.

- During the period in which restriction is in place, you need to take the shuttle bus to the 5th station from the parking area at the foot of the mountain.
- There are no restrictions on passenger car traffic for the Gotemba Trail.
- Check the the period and section of passenger car traffic restriction and the information on the parking area and the shuttle bus during the restriction period.
*This restriction does not apply to following vehicles.
